If you did not know about what SMiLE could have been, you would see smiley smile as a fun, lofi, experiment. But after listening to the Smile Sessions, this album feels full of frustrating "coulda been's". All that being said, it's still an easy, quick listen that has some cool, unique moments.

There's nothing to compare with the sublime vocal skills and achievements on this disc, except maybe the Smile Sessions box set, just released. I still say this is better, coz it's the real thing. I also think it has better continuity than Pet Sounds, and I for one, have no use for 'Sloop John B'...gimme 'Little Pad' instead, any time! It's an important disc to explore. No cars, no girls, no school, no surfing..just pure gorgeous, often comical classic harmonies. The Beach Boys in their vocal prime.
