One thing: the pacing. Each individual part is great, but they sometimes feel as if they weren't needed at *that* precise moment. Ambient interludes succeeding black metal riffing is supposed to be cool, but idk I felt like they threw some parts together to create a song. It doesn't apply to the whole record though, the dark jazz bits truly bringing diversity in an otherwise quite "classical" album in its approach.

The individual sections are often really cool, but album construction is severely flawed here. 1-3 alternate black metal and soft sections like clockwork, making the whole thing feel a bit contrived. The prod is also a touch questionable imo but nothing too bad. The bm parts alternate between the dark, bleak, deathspell omega-esque on 1, just a great tone on 2, a nice reprise on 3, and a really cool, post rocky grand and cinematic reprise on 5 that unfortunately unfolds a bit into nothing, making the track fall a bit flat and not feel at all like a closing piece - thus making the album itself also feel like it falls flat. The softer section are all well executed, but 4 especially because it is just a soft track with no black metal explosion does break the cycle and brings freshness on top of being nice in and of itself with its purring bassline, making for perhaps my fave track here and certainly the best constructed one. 3.6

Very good atmosphere. Need a few more listens on this one. I got a bit lost on the songwriting but there's def something special here.

You know your album sucks when you've contrived to make the interesting song ("White Miasma") a bonus track. The other five songs just kind of wander here and there, really insipid really.

I am digging the fuck out of the sound on this record. It is pretty short but hey, he just rreleased an album last year so I'm pretty forgiving. 3.5-4 but I'll go with 4 for now. rand Neige sounds like the devil as always

Not bad. It's definetly something different than their previous album. Songs are slower,
less melodic and more atmospheric, but hey, it's too short, and there are a lot of slow
parts, which are not bad, but are a tad reptitive and too long. But, it's actually really
good, with great riffs, good atmosphere, Neige's vocals are the same (you either like them
or hate them). Bliss is really good.

there's far too many slow movements for such a small album, and the slow movements take up the majority of the album. just when you're getting into it you suddenly realize you're at the last track already. it's nice while it lasts but it's not enough. would have been a great EP, but there's just not enough meat here for it to stand on its own.rthe idea behind the sound and the direction is great, but it just feels lacking. it's certainly worth a listen though. :]redit: the bonus disc with 2 tracks really does improve this album, hence my score increase. if you're going to check this album out, get the bonus disc too. :]
