The best way to describe Incomparable, the sophomore studio album by Swedish metal act Dead by April, would be handled in three consecutive words: God. Kill. Me. Now the idea to throw metalcore and boy band-styled pop in a blender doesn't sound so atrocious, right? Well, the concept here is executed so poorly that I would have to come around with a resounding, flat yes. The screams are misplaced, this album seems to get a massive hard-on for excessive utilization of electronics, and the songwriting is just plain godawful. Essentially these boys decided to rip a page from one of Sonic Syndicate's CD booklets with the intellect having been stolen (and tampered with) from the Backstreet Boys, and make of that what you want.

Moving towards a more pop oriented sound, with weak paper thin guitars, mediocre screams and ridiculous amounts of synthesizers. Dead by April repeat their debut album, but with even less appeal and more radio accessibility, locking away any potential they had to become a stand up act.

I am mad. I'm willing to listen to this. God forgive me for I have sinned. Interrupting Epicus Metallicus Doomicus for this. Well, it sounds less heavy, more poppy and more catchy. Just bland, and annoying. The vocals are worse and blabla. The electronics are everywhere. I MEAN EVERYWHERE. It's really hard to find some moments where there aren't any electronics. The bass, guitars and drums lines are the same in every song. Really. Remove the electronics, and every song would sound the same. They all follow the same patterns, and the lyrics are all about love, loss of love, miss of love etc.... Many (of the few) metal aspects are gone. All the choruses sound the same. Sometimes there is something new, like an acoustic part in "Crossroads", but it's damn too short (like ten seconds). In conclusion, I would say that some bands never learn. "Within My Heart" is somehow good.

Listening through the album right now, they said it was going to be heavier. Fucking liars. More poppy than ever... I'm not even sure if I'd say the songwriting is better, maybe worse. Really stupid keyboard effects in every song, and screaming is as good as gone.
