well my aoty for 2011 rapidly grew on me with every listen. all of the sudden its one of my favorite albums. its one of the most brutally honest albums i've ever heard which makes it so easy to connect to. some of the lyrics are so cheesy but they seem to fit so well. and i love how sean creatively adds in the "we're the kids in america" and "when the saints come marching in" parts. this album, along with "people who eat people" just make me feel the need to be a better person.

Folk punk: yes it's pessimistic and misanthropic how did you guess?! What elevates this one are the lyrics - they real - coupled with songwriting that, at times, is fucking mad ("Distance", "Big Bird"). It's kinda cringe, but in a good way? Guess you can't truly be earnest without being a lil bit cringe. Didn't *touch* me as much as other staples from the genre though.

As time passes akin to a deathbed with rollerblades, Knife Man may grow to become one of my favorite albums so far. Practically everything about this record just sounds so likable and, lyrically speaking, quite easy to relate. Andrew Jackson Jihad seem to know folk punk like the back of their rotting hands, I'll definitely give them credit there.
