3.5 great | ManiacBlasphemer | November 1st 19 | I take it as a personal insult when this album is so severely underrated while that pile of turd they released recently (won't even bother naming it) is considered a good output. How the hell can you rate that lazy, sterile and boring collection of turds on their latest offerings a 7 (i.e. a good album overall) and this one a 6 point something (i.e. average album)? If you are gonna rate shit so high, then at least make sure decent outputs get a better rating (i.e. at least an 8). Some people need to clean up their ears, particularly Patton fanboys who still believe that this guy, well passed his prime, can still turn shit into gold. Ever since 2004 he hasn't released anything noteworthy. This album, same like its successor, is maltreated by Patton fanboys simply because Patton was not part of them. They know that the music here is good, but they won't ever admit that FNM was a good band even before Patton joined it. Enough with the rant. The songs here are weaker than on the sophomore album, but by no means shit. There is a good amount of filler songs, scattered mostly in the middle section of the record. The band was in its diaper phase here. The vocals are very solid, the songwriting is a bit uneven. They did not yet have a clue about their musical direction. Hints of greatness are present, particularly on tracks 1, 3, 8 and 9. Track 5 is also pretty solid. All in all, this is not really FNM's oddball record.

2.5 average | Resident Metalhead Piranha | July 11th 17 | The distinctive rhythm section and guitar wizard Jim Martin are present here, but this is merely an introduction to greater things than a good album. Chuck Mosley and his monotonous vocals are merely backing vocal fodder at best and lets down the unimpressive material here. Opener title track is slow and repetitive at best despite featuring early signs of Jim Martin's tasty licks. "The Jungle" is riffier but less impressive overall, and nothing else entices. A mediocre, bumpy ride.

2.5 average | Robbit | December 22nd 16 | The title track and the instrumental "Pills For Breakfast" are the only tracks that resonate with me. Chuck Mosely's out-of-key vocalizing just wears on me after a very short while.

0.0 | | August 16th 14 | Faith No More clearly made it big once they found a vocalist in Mike Patton, though that isn't to say the band's debut - We Care a Lot - is all-around terrible. In spite of production hiccups and the dull performance of then-frontman Chuck Mosley, this is an album that will probably grant even the most die-hard Patton fans some interesting wishes, such as the creepy keyboard effects used in "Why Do You Bother", and also the more bass-heavy tune "Arabian Disco".

3.0 good | CrazyFool84 | July 30th 09 | Despite a personal distaste for the vocal styles/persona of former frontman Chuck Mosley, there can be a little credit thrown in We Care A Lot's direction. These props would mainly be the band's instrumental sound, which roughly mirrors the signature sound they'd come to perfect a few discs down the road. There are a few catchy songs on here - see "The Jungle", "Pills For Breakfast", "As the Worm Turns", and "Arabian Disco" - all possessing the signature guitar and bass dynamic, alongside the brooding keyboard layers. This should not be overlooked by fans of FNM simply for Mosley's sake. The music here really is pretty infectious, despite probably being the band's worst offering.
