Playing a somewhat refined but still generic form of radio-ready hard rock, Alter Bridge's debut is a rather average album. Guitarist Mark Tremonti displays much more talent than he did in Creed, and full-out shredding solos have shown up in several songs (thanks to vocalist Myles Kennedy playing rhythm). Kennedy also displays much more range than Scott Stapp, and thankfully significantly less swagger as well. Still, the album has several faults: the typical song structures, boring and sometimes awful lyrics, as well as little that distinguishes the songs from each other (or other bands on the radio, for that matter). It's occasionally quite enjoyable, but ultimately just another mainstream rock record.

I find One Day Remains to be one of the greatest post-00s debuts released. This is not a clone of Creed as you will read and hear over and there. It is the departure from the 90s rock for Mark, Brian and Scott. The musical marriage of the three with Myles Kennedy is one of the most splendid rock collaborations of the last 20 years. Music flows perfectly, lyrics are more meaningful than ever before with Creed. [I would have 5'd this but I save it for the next one]. Recommendations: "Metalingus", "One Day Remains", "Shed My Skin", "In Loving Memory".

A pretty good departure from Creed, but the lyrics could use a little fine tuning. Prime examples were the stumble tracks 7 and 8. Major props to some of the guitar work!

Alter Bridge were described as a Creed-clone by some, and One Day Remains is what made that happen. While the album is home to some quite enjoyable songs like opener Find the Real, the material is too generic to make the appeal last, and cringe-inducing works such as In Loving Memory and Down to My Last also weigh it down significantly.

Coming off the heels of the super band Creed, Mark Tremonti and his former band mates parted ways with Scott Stapp to create a rock masterpiece incorporating a few stylistic tendencies from Creed all the while creating their own brand of metal tinged rock. Tremonti's intricate and mind blowing riffs draw most of the attention musically while the supporting bass and drums provide an effective foundation. Myles Kennedy takes over vocals in a masterful fashion proving successful at delivering the most intense vocals with amazing range while retaining the ability to effectively deliver whispering vocals in the few soft moments that there are. Amazing riffs, soaring vocals, as well as pounding rhythm and bass ; this record is a good example of what rock is all about.
