This is the Kid A or Laughing Stock of Pop Punk. Completely misunderstood at it's time of release, this work of art brilliantly fuses Jazz, classic pop, and other unconventional methods into one of the most unique albums in the genre. Sadly, the backlash from fans wanting another Stay What You Are seemed to cause Saves the Day to avoid future creative endeavors.

The energetic pop-punk that Saves The Day performed so well is somewhat put to rest on In Reverie, but the uptick in songwriting ability makes up for the loss of energy and makes the album the most mature in their discography. It reminds me of How It Feels To Be Something On era Sunny Day Real Estate mixed with some Weezer, but it's still very much Saves The Day. The catchiness of previous releases is retained with ease, as most of the songs here has a memorable chorus. The vocals are much more quiet this time around, but they're absolutely beautiful on most tracks and swim perfectly through the melodies. It may not be quite as fun as previous releases, but the way these songs progress is as smooth as they'd ever be, and thus it's still a pretty fun and undeniably enjoyable listen.

I didn't get into Saves The Day until 2012, but this is by far as good as, if not better than, Stay What You Are. It was just a large departure from that album, and much ahead of its time.

Smartly catchy in many ways, containing more pop and polish than Through Being Cool or Stay What You Are. Don't let it frighten you away from some legitimately excellent songwriting. It's a great album, but perhaps it was the wrong one to follow Stay What You Are

Just as good (Read: the second classic) as Stay What You Are. People who have panned this album must be delusional when they say that it's so much different / worse than Stay What You Are. A little bit slower, maybe, but in no way worse.

Its a great album thats simply underated, and unjustly slammed by most saves the day fans. Its different indeed, but if you were a true fan of saves the day you would appreciate it for what it is and not for what it could be. That is all.
