If anything, Aenaon's debut is a great black metal album brimming with intensity. The attempted diversions from the genre - the blues rhythms, the piano phrases, the female operatic vocals and the saxophone lines - are certainly engaging, yet they are not thoroughly refined so as to give the album a truly distinct character.
