Despite the album art, an image altogether more fitting for the death metal sound of their first
demo, Into Infinite Obscurity is a clear crossroads between early Dissection and the blossoming
black metal of the Somberlain and Storm of the Light's Bane. It's a strange hybrid of Swedeath and
the faintest vision of the melodic black metal they would later excel at. With a nifty acoustic
piece to close it out, it's a fun treat for the odd fan that didn't listen to any Dissection
before their first LP.
