I've always loved Lil B as a novelty. From his more "Based" hilarious cooking music, rto his more serious attempts at hip-hop, so I was excited to get this when it dropped. As rsoon as it started spinning, I was blown away. This is full of god-tier production that rrivals My Dark Twisted Fantasy with samples from things like shoegaze band Slowdive, to the rGoo Goo Dolls, to even the Spirited Away OST. This also contains fantastic lyricism and Lil rB's unique flow that meshes with his beats rather than just keeping the same monotonous rflows like other rappers. I might lower this if it wears off over time, but this might be my rhip-hop AOTY. Long story short: #Thank You Based God

Lil B's I'm Gay is easily the Bay area rapper's best album. His flow has become
slightly less annoying, although his lackadaisical drawl still is a bit too drawn out and
the way that the vocals are EQ'ed in the production makes many of the songs seem slightly detached because he's just floating on top of the beat instead of immersed in it. The beats
that Lil B raps over though are fucking top notch, building off of his more recent
atmospheric jaunts with producers like Clams Casino, creating a dense, soulful experience.
He still has room for improvement, but for what it's worth I'm Gay is the first Lil B
release that stands up on its own without the gimmicky bullshit and makes due on the promise
of tracks like "Motivation".

Incredible doesn't even sum this album up. Lil B has managed to spit some of the most
meaningful lyrics of change in 2011, at the same time as saying what he believes in. This
guy has got the balls to say what he wants and what he believes in, and thank fuck theres
someone out there doing this.

Lil B continues his based work, with improved flows, pristine beats that continue to sample "trve music nerd" deep cuts, and conscious lyrics sitting next to the silliest one-liners.

Another serious effort from the Based God. The thoughtful subject matter and tasteful production are a welcome reprieve from what's flooding the rap scene as of late. If you aren't taking Brandon McCartney at least somewhat seriously yet, you should probably start here.
