I initially discovered this album and this band through my love of brutalist architecture. Certainly one of the most iconic brutalist beasts of Europe gracing its cover grabbed my attention and I was pleasantly surprised that it actually was not some experimental industrial house record that so often does indeed feature this kind of imagery. This was a kooky little indie project that was as homemade-sounding, as it was charming. Barely displaying ambition to grow or be more creative than some mildly playful instrumental goofs, the album still captured my heart as a kid then and put me on the lookout for UMO's future adventures.

Early 2010s psych: it's lo-fi yet full of summer vibes! 60s rock's influence is beyond evident, but it's compensated with - equally evident - nods to 2000s indie rock. This self-titled album is thus a pure product of its era, making it both a nice throwback and a record that feels stuck in a dead epoch.
