A bedroom pop record that hides behind a gigantic amount of reverb, The Year of Hibernation features gentle songs and timid vocals that sometimes (but not too often) dare to deliver a cute melody or guitar line. Most of the time though, its safe pleasantness fails to invoke stronger feelings.

It's a fun little album with some nice songs, 17 for example. But in my opinion it does not work good as an album because it lacks diversity. The specific style of the sound and the similar song structure of each song feels annoying when coming to the end of the record.

I hated this album the first time I heard it, but something kept me coming back to it. Not sure whether it's the warm, outer space-y sounding chords or the dreamy reverb drenched vocals on all the songs, but whatever it is, it's like food for my soul
