Coburn Pharr has a cool name but his name and vocals both pale in comparison to Randy Rampage. He does a fine job as a replacement though. This one's a little less intense than the classic Alice in Hell, but it's still great in its own right.

That's a classic indeed, the review above says it all. I'm just denying 5.0 because "Never, Neverland" does not reach the
masterclass of e.g. "The Legacy", "Among the Living", "Peace sells..." or "Master of Puppets".

Great guitar work, but too much acoustic diddlying and chorus-based focus in the start for my taste. The album starts off way too standard for my liking, however the focus switches on twchnical riffing and progressive structures about halfway-through. From then and on it?s great. Waters? use of natural harmonics is fantastic.

A bit less annoying than its predecessor it feels like, probably because it is trying less to be thrash metal and embraces its heavy metal/power/speed leanings. Still a thoroughly wankery, caricaturesque, quirky record that bored me most of the time. The only kinda cool bits were 7 because it is instrumental and short (unlike most songs which feel like they take forever), and 4 has some nice acoustic guitar parts but a boring chorus. We lose the sweet bass tone and the riffs, but somehow the album feels more consistent than the debut - still barely reaches a 2.3

Alice in Hell is one hell of an album of its own, but Annihilator up the ante on their magnum opus Never Neverland. Without trimming their sheer knack for technical instrumentation, the band incorporates more melody through the powerful vocal performance, soloing, and harmonic passages while diving into lyrical topics ranging from schizophrenia to macaroni and cheese to global warming/toxic fumes, and the production is even more spot-on than ever. Opener "The Fun Palace" has one of the genre's best opening guitar passages as it escalates in melody and pitch with their then-signature guitar tone (distorted yet punchy). "Kraf Dinner" is a silly track with serious riffing and song structure, the title track has a storytelling style with its tempo changes and lyrics, and tracks "Phantasmagoria" and closer "I am in Command" challenge their previous riff fests from Alice in Hell but being pumped with extra adrenaline for good measure. Nearly flawless from a technical and musical point of view with excellent production, Never Neverland is a near flawless masterpiece of the genre that defied genre conventions and set new ones of which they sadly never achieved after this one...

One of my favorite speed metal records of all time. It just seems to get better with every spin. The musicianship is top notch and tight as hell! Jeff Waters turns out a great batch of tracks here. My highlights would include "Phantasmagoria", "Sixes And Sevens", "I Am In Command", "Stonewall" and "The Fun Palace". Love Coburn Pharr's vocals on this one too.
