"Relapse" scared me a bit with the whole weird accent and effortlessness, but Eminem has almost fully redeemed himself with "Recovery". It is as the name suggests, not just a recovery for him but for us as well. Here, he tops almost all the songs on "Relapse" with slicker and catchier beats, better song subjects, and his fundamental rapping skills. "Talkin' 2 Myself", sure to be a hit, sees him rapping beautifully on how he has felt alone with his problems his whole life. He and Pink make quite a headbanger on "Won't Back Down". Normally I hate when a rapper takes an old classic and "rappifies" it, but Eminem has truly taken Haddaway's "What Is Love?" and made it his own on "No Love" with Lil' Wayne. He even pleases those who are fans of his older Marshall Mathers LP style with the creepier and angrier "Almost Famous". There is a lot to love here, and this CD shattered almost every doubt that I had in him. He still has filler here, but most importantly, he still has it, even though I know we all thought he'd actually lost his shit.

The 3.6 is confusing. Is it because people are rating it for the hits, or is it for the new material? Who knows. The hits are wonderful, as you'd expect. The new material is quite good, in my opinion. Not incredible, but it's alright.

Jackson digs into the world on his half-compilation half-new 1996 effort. With some all time classics like "Stranger in Moscow" abd "Earth Song" and some quirky, angry cuts "Scream", "Tabloid Junkie". It's a weird slightly unhinged look into the collapse of Jackson's life in the spotlight.
