Nevermore's weakest effort for sure. Loomis' solos and overall guitarwork are of course great as always, but his riffing prowess isn't allowed to shines enough imo. Most of the songs follow a build-up pattern from clean intros into heavier endings, and some just stay ballady throughout. Prefer my Nevermore riffier.

Another great outing from a fantastic band. Nevermore continues to blow me away with whatever they come out with, and this EP is no exception. This is a little gem for those who have already played the hell outta the studio disc and are in anxious anticipation for the next one.

A very good E.P. I agree with the "Bauhaus" cover beeing the only downer on this one. Also the sanctuary influence that overshadowed the debut is almost gone here. The style Nevermore plays on songs like "Optimist or Pessimists" will be developed further on "The Politics of Ecstacy." This is where it really started.

Short and sweet, this Nevermore EP is a lethal dose of dark and philosophical metal that Big N has been using in watered-down quantities for over a decade. The only fault on this album is the questionable "Silent Hedges/Double Dare" cover, which throws the album off it's dark, brooding path. However, the power and quality of the rest of the tracks makes for a short, black tale that has been repeated many a times by NM.
