Perfectly executes what should be great about modern progressive metal. The vocals effortlessly switch between deep (but coherent) growls to spacey, almost Cynic-like, beautiful cleans. The musicianship is at least equally as impressive. With great releases from BtBaM, THA, PtH, Scale the Summit, and more in the past month, this may be the highlight of the year for me so far.

This album wears its Cynic and BTBAM influences on its sleeve, and does so wonderfully. Last Chance to Reason blend intriguing, clean, spacey sections with the crushingly heavy to create something genuinely interesting. It's hard to find a band with a sound you can call "similar to, but not exactly the same as Cynic," but this is it.

crushing growls, mixed with decent cleans. LCTR are clearly miles ahead of the competition on this release with there blend of raw power and technical efficiency. one of the most compelling releases i have heard this year.
