The remixes are pretty meh. But it's forgivable due to the fact that these b-sides/remakes show great improvement from the debut album. This is primarily seen with vocalist Spencer Sotelo: who really comes into his own here vocally and shows much more versatility overall. The EP should not only compliment the debut album but should be good enough satisfy appetites till the next album comes out.

What to say about Icarus? The first EP from progressive metal troupe Periphery is redundant and sort of unjustified because there are three remixes of the title track on here; oh, that's not to say they're terrible - merely average at best. People are dying to check this release out for the B-sides and re-recorded songs, which come blasting through the Pentagon with Spencer Sotelo's confident vocals and intelligent (if not slightly hollow) guitar attack power.

While the band's first release showed great promise, I couldn't help but get annoyed at the clean vocals sometimes. Even the harsh vocals bugged me a bit. I can safely say, however, that Periphery have improved ten fold when it comes to the vocal department this time around.rFrak the Gods is a blistering, badass song that busts out of the gate and never lets up. The other tracks are pretty sweet too. I am fully anticipating their sophomore follow up!

Exactly what i was expecting from what is easily my favorite band. I'm extremely pleased with this EP, but like most everybody else that has commented I'm not a fan of the "Icarus Lives!" remixes. I tend to just skip them when giving the EP a run-through. Songs like "Frak the Gods" is showing the bands ability to compete with the "founders" of Djent (like Meshuggah), while still appealing to the more Post-hardcore fans with "Captain On" and more obviously, the remake of "Jetpacks Was Yes!". And even with all of this variety, they still manage to stay true to their melodic progressive metal sound. I'm Looking forward to their sophomore album more than ever now thanks to this EP which acts both as a dessert for their first album and an appetizer for their second.

Was a bit worried where they were heading. Then I hear Frak the Gods. And fuck me. They did everything perfect. Spencers growling is getting more beasty, his lyrics... Fucking amazing. Touching that topic everyones always thinking of in the back of their mind, death.rThe song has a couple of cleans but not too many, keeping this song fast paced and as metal as fuck.rI dont know what else is on the E.P tbh. rBut spencer said to expect a lot more stuff like the new frak the gods.r
