0.0 | | January 18th 12 | Redefining the power metal genre with intensely powerful vocals, magnificent storytelling, beautiful dueling strings, thought provoking orchestration and mind-numbing guitar, Rhapsody of Fire have created a superb example of what happens when the fine art of creativity is applied what what seems like a melodramatic concept and is executed beautifully.

4.0 excellent | StlPaulL | November 22nd 11 | If you're to listen to a single power metal album, make it this one. One of the few albums I've heard that are truly to be listened to as a whole. This album alone demands attention to the genre...or perhaps it defy's categorization? With influences ranging from classical to thrash combined with the strings, piano, acoustic guitar, choirs, general ambiance and the inhuman skill the members of this band possess with a vocalist who knows no bounds, experiencing this album is quite an epic experience, if there ever were one.

4.0 excellent | Panzerchrist | June 20th 11 | A well-crafted and solid album, full of solid tracks. Production is crisp and hits right where it should, the choruses hold up to the usual standard and the guitar weaves its way across the board in typical, yet awesome fashion. Definitely a fine album.

2.0 poor | marcsit | June 7th 11 | Rhapsody's new long play does not add anything new to an already worn message that sounds empty. Recurrence in the lyrics from the last two albums "The Frozen Tears of Angels" and "The Cold Embrace of Fear" echo in the abuse of "Black Metalish screams", and passages in Italian that have lost the surprising element. There is no single hit in the album and the epicness of the choruses shines for its absence. Rhapsody has been my favorite band for ten years from now and this new album is definetively the worst of their discography, by far. The ending of the second saga deceives. Time for a change.
