Charles Bradley's career move has been quite curious and genuinely both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Starting as a James Brown impersonator, he basically spent his whole life recording for others and performing others' songs. But when he got the chance to do his own thing, boy did he blow it out of the park. I am glad that for the few years he had in him he became this famous. Absolutely staggering voice.

Haha this can't be from 2011 - checks Wikipedia for 1 sec - ah ok my bad. Dude was 62 and got his first album out; it's a joy! His smokey voice - the kinda voice that only a man who saw trve things can have. Accompanied by 60s/70s deep soul instrumentations - with the occasional funk lick - as well as gorgeous background vocals, this is a) unexpected, and b) hella cool.
