2.5 average | DarkNoctus | April 22nd 11 | this is a great album, which holds a pretty steady standard throughout (spare a few uninteresting moments that I wish were briefer). standout track is easily The Mouth of Judas, which could be one of the best tracks they've ever put out. it's not a disappointment, but it's not mindblowing either.ralso hawks do you have to bring up Marrow wherever you go? we're listening to Primordial ffs :T

3.5 great | Trey STAFF | April 30th 11 | I had given up on Primoridal after "Storm Before Calm", but I had been reading good things about this album and Amazon had it for $5.99 so I figured "what the hell" and bought it. I'm glad I did. This album is more exciting, less two-dimensional, and has a bit of that "Storm..." flair that I had been missing.

4.5 superb | wyankeif1337 | April 22nd 11 | this finally leaked, and guess what? it is just as fucking amazing as you expected it to be. also, noctus: hawks brings up marrow because it was boring and you're weird for 5'ing it

2.6 average | Erwann S. STAFF | January 17th 22 | Pagan-adjacent, blacky folk metal, then ew power metal vocals that take over everything. When the dude sings/howls, whatever was happening musically is relegated to the back, and when the riffs aren't that interesting, it ain't good. Also, each track overstays its welcome. At least "The Mouth of Judas" is an absolute banger demonstrating the best of 2011 Primordial.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | June 18th 16 | Choosing to go in a darker direction than its predecessor did, but losing some of the catchiness that made that record so good along the way, Redemption At The Puritan's Hand is another good outing from the Irish folk metal legends Primordial. The base sound you know and love is still very much there, but there are small tweaks here and there that betray a darker vibe to the album. For instance, there is a noticeable doom metal influence on "The Black Hundred", and the bass-heavy intro of "The Puritan's Hand" is sure to catch the ear. Add that to excellent opener "No Grave Deep Enough", a song that plays off of the bands' established strengths wonderfully, and "Bloodied Yet Unbowed", which just might be the most epic song they've ever created, and you've got yourself a very good record. It does lose some steam in the second half, but there are more than enough great moments here to at least warrant it a listen.

4.5 superb | PaleCompanion | April 29th 11 | Excellent album again. Might not replace TTND in my heart but it really is fantastic. And I guess I totally understand where Hawks is coming from, having been disappointed by Agalloch last year as well, the fact that this album is great is such a relief.

3.5 great | Hawks | April 22nd 11 | As a Primordial fanboy, I must say that I'm extremely pleased with this. Won't end up being as good as the 2 albums that came before this, but that really doesn't mean anything considering all Primordial is great in some way. Just happy I wasn't let down by this like I was last year with Agalloch.
