It's a shame--tragic, even. El Cielo was a magnificent album, and it seemed that this band was destined for great things. Unfortunately, the only great thing this band has acheived since then is a great, embarassing fall into mediocrity. All creativity, integrity, and inspiration this band once had has been effectively snuffed out of existence. The lyrics to "Sanzen" now have a bitter irony to them: "The pen ink is running dry, it's been thrown to paper and wasted, creavity has been blocked and over tasted." Maybe in time dredg will re-appreciate it.

Honestly not as bad as people think it is; although, it is by far their worst release. Musically, it is a step down from their previous work, aiming to be more simplistic. Lyrics are not as creative either and sometimes just plain uninspired. Many boring moments throughout, especially the entirety of "The Tent." The lackluster single "The Thought of Losing You" ends up being one of the album's better songs, combining catchiness, atmosphere, and a memorable chorus. This is not a maturation, rather a regression in their sound if anything. They've been leaning toward this pop direction since "Catch Without Arms," now they have reached the pinnacle of it with "Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy." Try again next time, dredg.

Is this a Gavin Haye's solo album? Apart from like 4 songs, it sounds like the rest of the band is absent. In
place of them are uninspired drum loops and electronic instruments (thanks to Dan the Automator). This is
easily Dredg's worst record, but it's by no means terrible. They said it themselves that this is a "one off,
departure record", so hopefully they got this out of their system and will make another creative rock album
again.

There's a few gems in here - Upon Returning, Thought of Losing You, Where I'll End Up and Kalathat are all solid... however, there are some terrible ones such as Somebody is Laughing and the worst Dredg song ever written - Sun Goes Down

Honestly I don't see what is so bad about this album. Sure its no El cielo or hell even catch without
arms but it is what it is. An experimental album. There are some songs on here that are quite bland
but for the most part its quite good. Just listen with an open mind.

Now, I have every album every released by dredg. I'm a die-hand fan, and have the "Symbol Song" symbol tattooed on my arm. I love them to death. And this album just seemed... well, lackluster. I might do a full review later, but if you approach it with an open mind, then it's a very average album, and if you don't... well, just look at the average rating for it. There's a reason. Dan The Automator, I loved you with Deltron 3030, but leave dredg alone.

Dredg wtf r u doin? Well in its own right, this (not even going to say the awful title) ralbum is a good music release. My only question is, where is Dredg? Are they here, or are rthese their doppelgangers? Some catchy songs, some worthless. It's fun if you are into poppy relectronic stuff, but this is shat on from a great height by El Cielo and Leitmotif.

To me it sounds more like a Gavin Hayes solo album than a dredg album. It's definitely a severely underwhelming record compared to dredg's previous albums. But I love Gavin Hayes's voice, so I did enjoy this. Shame on dredg for taking a leap backwards though.

Sound like Gavin's "Team Sleep" and if it was that would be fine. But this is Dredg, and this album is pretty awful, given their capabilities. I was thinking 1.5, but gave it a 2 because they put the "The Ornament" on there. Beautiful song!
