If this was not under the Anthrax name it would not have the reputation it does. Fueled is an amazing song, Random Acts of Senseless Violence bangs, and King Size does too. On the whole the songs range from average to solid. A shame the god awful, Vol 8. is on streaming services and not the far superior Stomp 442 or WCFYA which are both far and away superior.

What happened? Sound of White Noise was actually quite good, and then they follow it up in mediocre fashion. "Random Acts of Senseless Violence" is a fun tune, but there's barely anything noteworthy here. Even John Bush sounds uninspired here even if he's hardly the worst factor here. The lifeless songwriting weighs down some potentially fun riffs, and the result is Anthrax's first bad album.

STOMP 442 was Anthrax's first album without Dan Spitz on lead guitar. Instead, Paul Crook and guest Dimebag Darrell share duties with Ian and Benante (?!) on the guitar solos here. Scott Ian said in one interview that drummer Charlie Benante wrote the riffs for this album, which may explain why there are so few memorable hooks in these songs. Instead, it's lots of bluster on top of fairly generic sounding groove metal riffing. Gone are the interesting melodic guitar breaks and most of the rap-metal influences. Instead, Anthrax's trademark attributes have been mostly stripped away and leave them sounding like just about every other metal band on the scene without a strong identity. Lots of energy, but no inspiration.

stomp 442 may be a little more heavier than the last album but most of the songs sound the same here.The album kind of reflects how the mess up the band was already with a different singer and losing their long time lead guitarist as well indeed a very forgettable anthrax record for my taste.
