Incredible King Diamond vocals, and graphic lyrics make you feel like you take part in every scene of this 18th century horror story. Amazing album and one of a kind.

King Diamond is truly some kind of musical genius. After being at the helm of one of the most influential metal bands of all time, Mercyful Fate, the King continues to trail blaze across the metal scene with his sophomore master piece Abigail. Diamond's vocals and lyrics take center stage to tell the chilling story of the devil in disguise Abigail. Truly this is the biggest highlight of the album, the concept, lyrics, and atmosphere that they invoke. Lets not forget about the other big highlight the guitar skills of Andy LaRocque. Some of the riffs and solos that he pulls out on this album are some of the best in all of metal. Other highlights include, basically everything else. Best songs:Arrival, Abigail, and Black Horsemen.

Definitely King's best record. An absolute concept classic. Great performances from Andy LaRocque, Michael Denner and Mikkey Dee. All songs are f**** great.

This is the album those pastes warned us about but I do not care. their is so much to enjoy here from how well the concept of the story is executed and king's high shreeking performance, though i am expecting backlash for low balling such a deservedly critically acclaimed record.

Obviously impeccable musicianship by each and every person on this album, but I can't seem to rate this any higher than a 3.5 and the reason stems from two primary issues. The first of the two is the overuse of guitar solos; if every song were just the chorus/verse/interludes I'd be more than happy, but I am undeniably glad that that relic from the 80's stayed there. The second of the two issues is Diamond's voice; just like some people absolutely abhor "death growls" I have grown to be the same way with King Diamond's falsetto. If not for those two issues, I'm sure this would be a near-perfect album for me. 3.2/5

Abigail is widely regarded as King Diamond's strongest album, and with good reason. The story line of the album is KD's strongest to date, and musically the album stands taller than anything else released to date. Andy LaRocque does an outstanding job of coming up with catchy riffs and licks, all while never showboating enough to take away from any one song. The percussion on the album is solid; not above average, but suites its purpose nonethless. Abigail makes for such a good listen because of the vocals though. King's voice can be quite the acquired taste for some, but this is his strongest delivery. His falsetto (although corny) is clear and not quite to the point ofbeing overused, and his "standard" voice is strong as well. Lyrically the album is lacking a bit, but they do serve the purpose of perpetuating the story all while keeping the listener interesting and inclined to listen to the plot unfold. Listen to Abigail if you are a fan of any of KD's work, or a Mercyful Fate fan.

This is the King at his finest. I've had many friends laugh at his voice but you can't deny the marvelous story-telling and musicianship displayed on this album. Favorite song is The 7th Day of July 1777.
