Bad, overproduced beats with horribly autotuned hooks, and far too many guest spots. It's ironic that the two best songs on the album are the only two that do not have these guest spots. His rapping makes up for some of it, but I think everyone was expecting better. Fuck you Atlantic.

Lupe goes B.O.B. on us music and beats wise, but other than that this is rap for people who don't normally listen to rap and think Lupe is the best..which he's not. He doesn't have anything new or relevant to say, and this just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. ugh, you guys are overrating this

This is what may have been the result of Atlantic completely screwing Lupe over. For almost
the entire album unoriginal club beats saturate it, with alright hooks at best, and
completely unlistenable ones at worst. Lupe's rapping is probably the best part of the
album, and even at that he obviously was not putting passion into his verses. The few
mentions of politics were unnecessary, and his defining characteristic, his lyricism, took
leave for most of this work. All in all, a bad album.

Lasers in a really odd way is an interesting record. Which shows a defined example of a label takeover on an artist's album. God knows what Atlantic was thinking when trying to "dumb down" the samples to a pop formula for one of mainstream wordiest MC's. The overriding problem is how "unnatural" this album is. And despite Lupe's clear talent shown in the verses it's almost aggravating to listen to with the stupid pop choruses that plague some of these songs. Still some of these songs are pretty great (Letting Go, Words I Never Said, All Black Everything). In the end, the strangest thing about Lasers is how Lupe sounds like a guest on his own album.

Lasers might have not have been Lupe's best album but it had tracks like Words I Never Said, Letting Go, and All Black Everything which are ,in my opinion, the best sons on the album.

Sorry, but there's no saving this album. There are two memorable tracks, All Black Everything and the *verses* of Words I Never Said.rThis is the label destroying what made Lupe Fiasco, Lupe Fiasco. Choruses are disconnected from verses and the righteous call in his work is nearly dead and gone. Not cool. Falls far behind Food and Liquor and The Cool, avoid this trainwreck of an album.

There are a few songs here that I really like, and while I'm not a big fan of rap I found myself really getting into those tracks. The rest though could easily be ignored and pushed away as simple radio tunes.

This is quite possibly the most unfortunate record I have heard in 2011. Not just for contrived content, but also because Lupe Fiasco released "Food and Liquor". How did he miss this in his contract. And, to top matters off: "All right, all ready, the show goes on..." is abhorrently a rip-off of "All right, all ready, we'll all float on." Atlantic Records, get off my Isaac Brock's dick and take your corporate vice off of Lupe's.

How Lupe has made such a fiasco is beyond me!! I can't even describe how I'm feeling about this. Oh god, I know, Atlantic screwed another artist because Lupe was not the guy with the style they wanted to brainwash the new generation. Lupe was never that good be he was still original in a world were the mainstream is becoming more and more insignificant, more soulless, more trendy, more clubby, etc. I'm just hoping he will broke his contract and continue making album on par with his others.

It's pretty decent, but it also doesn't really feel like it came from Lupe himself, which explains why it's so manufactured. Apart from a few exceptional tracks (Words I Never Said, State Run Radio, All Black Everything) it's all pretty generic hip hop. Not a bad cd by any means but a bit average sandwich.

I could not disagree more with this review. It's apparent you have not sat down and analyzed these lyrics. Lupe so thoughtfully articulated his reaction to the conventions of society that are breeding ignorance, intolerance, and bigotry. Not too mention, this album was exceptionally produced.

It's formulaic, forced, unintelligent and uninteresting. With the exception of a couple of tracks, ("All Black Everything", "I'm Beamin") this is a typical radio hip-hop album. For someone who claims to be hip-hop's saviour, you have to do better.

Pretty meh-worthy aside from a few tracks. The auto-tune was cringe-inducing (it's 2011, do we really need auto-tune anymore?) and the beats are lackluster. His rapping pulls this one through in spots and makes it listenable, even if it's not something to return to with any frequency.

I think the creative, dynamic Lupe comes out in a few songs, others are harmless and poppy, and then there's another group that's absolute garbage. It all adds up to disappointment, but it's hard to blame Lupe too much due to the well-documented struggle with Atlantic. To be fair, I was worried when I heard "Shining Down", which isn't even on the album, but there are certainly some songs worth listening to (namely All Black Everything & Beautiful Lasers)
