The album seems to follow exactly where "Extreme Aggression" left off, with thrash metal oriented towards technique with brutal vocals, which was quite promising, it opens more with three awesome tracks, When the Sun Burns Red, Comma Of Souls and People of the Lie, nevertheless from there the songs that follow one another are of very linear form, practically following a stand-alone format, and many of them have some their good moments, Mental Slavery is a really good track.
I think that in terms of thrash metal, Kreator is one of the most brutal bands there is. The vocals are deep and roughly delivered, the guitar solos and firm and meaningful, and the percussionist does a great job at keeping the band going. "Where should I start with this band, Vito?" I must recommend Coma of Souls for a number of reasons. The first reason is that it was my first album, and it certainly got me hooked on them. Second of all, it probably is their most consistent record. I don't know about you, but consistency is a good thing in my eyes.
Kreator's highlight songs on this release include "People of the Lie", "Terror Zone", and "Hidden Dictator". This is a good place to start if you want to get into the heavier britches of thrash metal. A fine release.

I got this album at about the same time as Seasons in the Abyss, and it got overshadowed by Abyss. Then Sepultura's Arise came out later, and I kind of forgot about Coma. It's excellent but, except for the big banger on this album, I don't think it compares as well, overall, to Petrozza's later work

To me this is their best album. It has one the

technical skills that i have heard in a

In the lyrical department they seem to
continue maturing, with People of the Lie
standing out as an anti fascist anthem.

"Coma of Souls" is a beautiful work that emerged in a time when the greatest bands of the genre already presented their weaknesses. In that kind of detail, Thrash Metal has turned into a style that features the best albums from lesser-known bands with few spotlights, even if they are well known in some aspects. Kreator is nanic close to bands like Metallica and Megadeth, even more in the 90s, but with "Coma of Souls," a band of lesser power managed to be much better than those with commercial appeal. It is always good to see and hear this kind of event.

The most perfect thrash album ever recorded. Coma Of Souls contains some of the most amazing songs ever written and is Kreators strongest collection of songs regardless of what will undoubtably be said about pleasure to kill and extreme aggression which both seem to overshadow it.

Kreator at their best this was the album where they shifted into focussing on writing actual songs instead of messing around with playing as fast as they could as they had done on their past albums, no matter how good thos ealbums were. THis is a highly technical and thoroughly enjoyable album that never lets up on the heaviness nor on the emphasis on creating memorable songs from that opening acoustic part of When The SUn Burns Red right through to the thrilling closing of the album. the recommended tracks would be the first three though as they are all some of the finest songs that the thrash metal genre ever produced and have long stood the test of time.

This is the ultimate thrash metal record. Perfectly executed and produced. A very controlled record, but still full of life and aggression. It's melodic, progressive and technical enough to make it flow like a river. The lyrics are also good. You don't find better global warming or anti-nazi songs out there.
