One of the most unique and challenging records ever, sadly being a victim of dedicated prog-haters who bashes anything they see as
"wankery". It is painfully technical, but all the mastery are component of creating a mechanical, spiritual, and trance-like
atmosphere. A completely different beast than all too ordinary djent, tech-death, and other genres usually conceived masturbatory.

SPIRAL ARCHITECT- A SCEPTIC'S UNIVERSE is one of the most impressive and amazing albums , from the technical point of view, in the history of tech prog metal ! Each time I made an audition of this album, I have the same reaction like I had at the first one ! How is that possible ? Definitely, is more then impressive, it's breathtaking and almost super human ! This Norwegian guys just broke the barriers of the top of the technical skills for a normal musician !But this guys are not normal, they are inhuman and this is proven on this unique album ! It's sad , in a way, that they didn't ever make a second album, too see their evolution, because -and that's my personal point of view- this is the kind of album that you cannot beat with a following album !It's monstrous, it's breathtaking,the virtuosity is total , this album is the peak of technical metal! Everything is here on musical steroids, everything is pushed to the limit and the album resist to the test of time ! Even now, in 2021, the terrible pandemic year, this album has the same major effect on me ! Glory to SPIRAL ARCHITECT and thank you for a monument in prog metal, their unique album ever released ! 5 STARS with no hesitation for a milestone masterpiece!

When someone says wanky music, this is what they mean. Rhythmical changes literally every moment of the album, and thw twchnicality in the instrumentation cannot even be put into words. Espwcially the bass shines as way more prevalent and difficukt than usual. Unfortunately absolute wankery comes with its limitations.

This easily, and by light years, represents the high watermark for the technical metal genre. What you have here is a CD full of incredibly crafted songs that bleed technicality, beauty and emotion. If you want to blow your mind listen to the songs Insect (easily the best tech metal song of all time), Spinning and the second half of Cloud Constructor. For a more relaxing listen (the beautiful side of the CD) immerse yourself into Moving Spirit and Excessit. It is truly amazing how this group of fine musicians (especially Lars Norberg on bass!!!) crafted such a technical CD that offers so much variety and flows nearly perfectly from top to bottom. Sadly, this CD may never be equaled let alone surpassed. This CD is not for everyone, but if you enjoy beautiful and extremely technical musical art do yourself a favor and get this CD!!

laughably bad. gotta give these guys kudos for what they tried with this, but among other things,
the vocals and overall mix make it absolutely unlistenable. I'm honestly surprised to see so many
good ratings on this.

Perhaps one of the more entertaining heavy metal prog albums I've yet to hear. There are not many albums I could even compare this one to for better reference as so unique. The heavy metal vocals, the prog rock instrumentations w/ hints of hard rock flare. I never thought an album could exist past the 80's, and to my surprise this was an album from an '00 year. Hopefully this album will obtain more favoritism in the near future 'cause this is a "left-field" album that needs more recognition.
