Living Colour's 'Vivid' not only contains one of the greatest songs of all time ('Cult of Personality'), but the combination of musical talent & original fusions of sound make the entire album truly classic. The quality of songwriting & musical diversity evident on 'Vivid' is akin to that of a veteran band, not one making their debut. Meshing the super-tight rhythm section with Vernon Reid's thrilling guitar-work & Corey Glover's striking vocals, 'Vivid' is not only an even & consistently impressive LP that should appeal to a wide audience, but it is one which has stood the test of time. Recommended Tracks: Cult Of Personality, Open Letter (To A Landlord), Desperate People, Middle Man & Which Way To America?

A few excellent songs mixed in with mostly average ones. Many sections on the album sound more like jamming than meticulously thought-out pieces where they were trying to achieve something specific. Overall the album is good, but had the potential to be much greater.

It was such a nice album. Funky hard rock meets '80s metal? Whatever, this was great. The gap between the big hits and the filler songs was huge, but the better songs will stuck in your head for sure.

KJ Swantko pretty much summed all that can be said for this album... The first track kills so hard that it has an identity nearly separate from the entire rest of the album. Where the rest of the record is pretty good, tracks 8 and 9 are two tracks that should've been cut from the album (IMO).
