I will maintain that Cild War Kids have not declined here at all and I will defend that position with my life goddammit (the decline in question would eventually happen, but much later).

Overall, this album becomes boring after a while. Cold War Kids just has that type of sound where it seems they are trying to sound appealing and likable to people when it just becomes old.

“Mine Is Yours” is Cold War Kids’ most personal album yet. The album is full of Nathan Willett’s (lead singer) feelings about life and love. He sings about sharing a life with another person and he emphasizes the importance of addressing pressing issues in relationships with determination and to realize that working on issues will be messy but worth it. There are two blues/groove tracks on this album compared to nine other pop rock songs. It’s nice to hear the blues tracks which bring to mind Cold War Kids’ last two albums, but they make the album a little inconsistent sound wise. All the songs are catchy with great choruses and hooks. Producer Jacquire King helped Cold War Kids make “Mine Is Yours” their most accessible and complete album. It’s complete in its vision. Like Kings of Leon’s last two albums which were also produced by Jacquire King, Cold War Kids have put out a very enjoyable album and should catch more people’s attention with this release. Many couples will wish for “Broken Open” to be sung at their wedding. If you’re looking for a catchy pop album, and a pop album that has backbone check this out.

love tracks 1-6. yes, it's a bit overproduced, but the first half shows that the Cold War Kids can still make terrific arena rock. the drumming was surprisingly superb, too. can't stand tracks 7-11 though - bad, bad lyrics and poor chemistry. I think they should just keep releasing EPs like Behave Yourself.

Everything that you love about Cold War Kids, just a little more polished and grandiose. "Skip the Charades" is one of the best songs they've ever written.

In which the CWK deviate even further from the uniquely bluesy, dance-able, rigidly indie sound of Robbers & Cowards. Many may find this new sounds "refined" and some sort of improvement on their previous "shortcomings", but in all honesty, it's a leap in a direction that I don't really care for. This isn't a BAD album, not by any means...I just don't think you'll be digging this too hard if Robbers & Cowards is the CWK sound you'd like to keep hearing. Maybe someday soon I'll write a full semi-negative review on this one.rUpon second/third listen.....it's growing a tad bit. doubt it will ever exceed a 3 though.

Cold War Kids throw on some more colorful aesthetics to their black n' white bluesy soul punk sound-making their sound more poppy and polished. Ultimately, Mine Is Yours should not only appeal to old fans, but those who found Cold War Kids too overwhelming with their rather boxed in sound. Here, we see the quartet manage to breakout with their sound without straying their roots. Bravo Men!
