I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes that Gorillaz had a very anticlimactic end to their storied career. It's not even that The Fall is that bad of an album, but it's just so pedestrian. It feels so uninspired, uninterested even. There are no tracks on the album that are really hate-able, but only a few that are enjoyable. It's just there, just kind of in the background not really doing or saying anything. It reeks of wasted potential, as we all know they're capable of much better. It doesn't even feel like a Gorillaz record, because whereas Demon Days and their self-titled were as innovative as they were fun, The Fall is neither of them, just banal and boring. It almost makes me wish that Damon Albarn would resurrect the project just to give it the ending it truly deserved.

Gorillaz put out another somewhat decent release. Granted, its too synth-heavy like Plastic Beach, but the sounds are more eclectic and it has a mix of some of their earlier sounds in there too. good enough, 3.5/5 1 Bumps \| Bump

For me, only a few tracks stands out, but man that they are great!rRevolving door is a fun and catchy tune, bobby in pheonix as a fantastic guitar riff plus the soulful voice of bobby womack. Amarillo is a great sad little ballad. And also one of my favourite gorillaz track ever is from this album: the parish of space dust, what an uplifting and beautiful track. It doesn?t last for too long but it is enough to me. The problem is the rest: boring, empty and uninspiring tracks that are just loop of bleepy bloopy sounds or just ridiculousness(the speak it moutains and seattle yodel)

Even considering how the album was created via iPad, this is a rather disappointment of potential that was squandered for an over-repetitive trip-hop album. There may be only a hand full of "eh" tracks (2, 6, and 9), but that's not enough to motivate many listeners to hear this (mostly instrumental) album. At least this album was free... Bump

The Fall works well as aural art, but not so well as actual music. The tracks fit smoothly together and a common theme is evident. However, on the musicality front, the songs are not very intriguing. The album is littered with experimental noise that doesn't quite sooth the ear in the way previous Gorillaz albums have. It is, in a way, the anti-Plastic Beach. While Plastic Beach felt like a unsure collection of good songs, The Fall feels like an intricate weave of passable music.

It's not as illustrious as Demon Days or cinematic like Plastic Beach, but this pet project isn't as horrid as everyone else makes it out to be. The minimalistic approach that The Fall has going for it is actually quite soothing, and it's interesting how Damon Albarn recorded all of the album via iPad. Bump

The Fall: such a fitting album name. This album is complete waste of time and it documents the fall of a great band. The recording sound is flat and its no surprise that this was made on an iPad. The songs are monotonous and utterly pointless, as most of them just repeat the same screeching electronic dribble for a few minutes before fading into the next song that sounds identical to the last. The highlight of the entire thing is "Revolving Doors" which is thankfully the second track, but even this song would be a forgotten filler track on any other Gorillaz CD. When I bought Plastic Beach when it first came out, I gave it a 2/5 and almost despised it, but I have grown to like it alot and it now has a 4/5. I highly, highly doubt this will ever happen to The Fall.

I have to say it's one of the most boring albums I've ever listened to. And this is the band (guy?) that's supposed to break down musical barriers and give us something completely new and exciting: my personally crazy gorillaz faves are sound check, dirty harry, and empire ants, all completely unique. The only tracks I really enjoyed were Revolving Doors and Amarillo. I hope a true follow up for plastic beach will come soon.
