One song, twenty-one minutes song. So how did Meshuggah pull this off while keeping our attention? Well, Meshuggah was forced to change things up and try different things. As a result, Meshuggah tried new things and thought outside the box, and it resulted in one of the greatest EPs ever. This ep showcases Meshuggah's potential.

I is, fittingly, a one track EP. The song is 21-minutes long. It is one of Meshuggah's best songs. The riffs are superlative throughout, it doesn't get boring (like so many of their songs that are but a quarter of this length), and, best of all, it doesn't pull any punches. A minute-and-a-half guitar and tom build-up tightens the tension like a coil, and once it ends, all Hell breaks loose. Meshuggah's best release-- the short length ensures it can be listened to in full without boredom setting in.

Meshuggah made an EP that shows all the qualities of the band, and I'm talking about the EP called I. It's a 20 minute long track that is packed with heavy and technical riffs, complex and compact drumming, splendid vocals and chaotic lyrics. If you want to get into this band you just need to get I and if you liked it you will most likely enjoy their other albums as well. My personal favourite moments from this beautiful album would be these parts: The heavy riffs at 5:00 and the creepy solo and extremely cool drumming section at 5:40. Later the ultra heavy section that starts around 10:30, and my last favourite moment is where the doomsday melodies begins at around 14:40. I have everything you want from Meshuggah, and I mean everything.

This is my first Mesuggah album, and I was pleased, but not blown out of my chair. One 20 minute song for an album seems disappointing, but it's worth it, seeing that it's an EP. The riffing takes a more aggressive, crunchy approach than usual Thrash metal bands, which normally go for speed to achieve heaviness. The song is composed wonderfully; however, some parts are boring and I usually fast-forward to a different section; this happens a lot in the last third of the song. However, most of the song is heavy, and surprisingly catchy. Unfortunately, the same metalcorish-thrash vocals are present (it sound like the Shadows Fall vocalist, but with a little more grunt). A great buy if you're into extreme thrash metal.
