Devin was not happy with how Physicist turned out, and neither were most of his fans. While not a bad album, it was hampered by a poor production job and a, compared to his two solo records which preceded it, rather one-dimensional approach. While on the road with Strapping Young Lad after Physicist's release, Devin set out to write a more "personal and honest record" and penned Terria. Not only did he succeed, but he succeeded with flying colours. Terria is my favourite album of the 2000's and one of my favourite records of all-time. It is an incredibly detailed, brilliantly written, and perfectly paced album with outstanding performances and a uniquely superb production job. Like Infinity, Terria takes time to grow on you- but, if you give it that time, then rest assured it will. What Ocean Machine is to the... well, ocean, Terria is to the Earth. An incredible record.

My personal favourite Devin Townsend album. It works so brilliantly as a single piece, the tracks are so well placed, and hence the mood throughout is truly captivating. A masterpiece.

On my first listen I thought it was terrible, but it's a hell of a grower. Take time to feel the music, it isn't the standard metal fare where you can tell something is good by the riffs because this album is so much more than that which really sets it apart from the genre in many ways. If at all possible, listen to this album while going on a nice long roadtrip, preferably on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Devin Townsend is a cool Canadian BASTARD with a very open mind on pretty much all facets of life. You should probs give Ocean Machine a listen first but this is one seriously gargantuan album. M/

If you are big on the 60-80s era of prog rock (Pink Floyd, King Crimson) and 90s prog metal (Tool, Dream Theater), then there is a big chance you'll be a sucker for Terria. Terria is an all around amazing progressive album, minus a few small flaws, one of which is that certain guitar solos are too quiet to fully appreciate. The other flaw is Devin's lyrics, sometimes being a little too silly to actually take seriously. Devin was never known solely for his lyric writing skills, but this release is probably his worst offence. Otherwise, a practically perfect album that started the new millennium with a rather significant bang.
