It was a 3 until i heard "Home." It became a 3.5 at the beginning of "A Faint Illusion,"
and at 3:00- 4:44 of that song this album became a 4. So good. Reminds me of pmtoday +
closure in moscow.

Pretty awesome, I just miss the long epic tracks like Create from their first album. Otherwise this is definitely an improvement.

The album loses a sense of cohesion that Empire Theory had. You could feel an album long
buildup in Empire Theory, reaching a crash on Western Scene. The album felt like an 'album.'
Dreamhouse's lack of longer songs like Create leave me wanting a few more impassioned guitar
solos, and some more progression, as most of the songs follow a very generic 'verse chorus'
format, so much so that I don't know how anyone could really praise it for it's progression
after Empire Theory did progression 100x better. That being said, the riffing got much
better and mathier, and the vocals, which being much more produced, have improved as well.
Josh's drumlines are still mathy and fun. A few gems, like Statues, Salamanders and Worms,
Dreamhouse, and Chemical Fires show this band's talent and ability to really work together
and make something no other band can. This band is nothing like Circa Survive, though they
have a lot of similar characteristics. Overall, this is a more mature and fun album, after
their extremely serious, less passionate Empire Theory.

Everyone's complaining about what happened to this band. They progressed, they did what they wanted.
Now they sound Coheed & Cambria-esque and similar to Circa Survive with the vocals and guitar. A couple
more similar bands would be Closure In Moscow and The Sounds Of Animals Fighting. I for one really enjoy
this, and anyone else who likes any of the bands I just listed should check this out.

Before his tenure as the singer for Dance Gavin Dance, Tilian Pearson used to be in this multi-subgenre rock band known by the name of Tides of Man; why he decided to leave this group for DGD is presumably beyond anyone's imagination. On ToM's 2010 full-length offering Dreamhouse, Tilian came off as less shrill and more in control of his vocals, which resulted in a mostly spectacular performance from the man himself. Regarding the rest of this band, it's a musical project that is clearly comprised of talented instrumentalists - and while the songwriting isn't always stupendous, you can still expect to find powerful compositions such as "Salamanders and Worms" and the relatively soothing "A Faint Illusion". To a degree, Kris Crummett's production work for the record even accentuates the obvious strengths and only fewer drawbacks pop up.

Backed by some excellent vocals and some really catchy tunes, Dreamhouse is an
awesome sophomore album. Like all good things though there are some flaws, and after a few
listens most songs become pretty unforgettable. Pretty solid though for the most part.

Whereas Empire Theory was an ambitious album that occasionally failed to live up to its incredible promises, Dreamhouse streamlines and condenses the band's songwriting formula considerably, and executes on this basic premise more consistently than the band's debut. The result is an album rife with catchy choruses and a few scorching progressive-laced alternative tracks, but also one lacking in much of the drama and emotion that defined Empire Theory. Choose yer poison.

Wow, I was expecting a longer and darker album from TOM but turns out they put out some great dynamic fast-paced songs, the change works almost perfectly anyway, -0.5 because of the same situation others have mentioned no 5 min + tracks.
