Spreading the Disease is in my opinion their second best record just after Among the Living. A.I.R, Madhouse, Armed and Dangerous, Medusa and specially Gung-Ho are absolute Thrash classics!!

AIR immediately shows the difference in quality between debut and this one. Each song afterwards showcases a slightly different flavour showing that band has no shortage of ideas.

I guess you had to be there. There is not one song, one riff or one chorus that sticks out to me on this album. In fact, I much prefer the debut over this one.

Not much impressed. With the big 4 title, they should have had a much better album than this. The songs are good, enjoyable and rocking but sometimes they sound monotonous.

Anthrax's sophomore effort may be missing the charismatic Neil Turbin, but Joey Belladonna makes his own statement to standout, and the result is the band's first truly excellent album. The better production values make audible of the refined guitar work, and drummer Charlie Benante makes his first big impression on why he was one of the genre's early highlights, throwing in bombastic bass drum beats and fills when necessary. Newcomer bassist Frank Bello has audible, memorable bass fills and tones, and everyone overall puts their best foot forward. the result is a compilation of excellent songs. A genre classic

There's never a dull moment on Spreading the Disease, indeed, you'll have a hard time keeping up with this album. Spitz and Ian play like madmen on here, and Benante whips up some wicked fills. Easily one of the band's finest efforts.

This is the best Anthrax record (with Among the Living right behind), pure old school Thrash/Speed, catchy as hell, excellent riffs, and probably one onf the best metal vocalist to ever face the earth...yes, he is that good.

Great album. Not their best, but a good debut for their then-new vocalist, Joey Belladonna. Spreading the Disease is the only Anthrax album in which he uses this style of vocal, and it may not be my favorite, but it works very well and blends/contrasts nicely with the instrumental parts. (He seems to be nearly more influenced by 70's "arena" hard rock than NWOBHM in my opinion.) The drumwork stood out here, too. There were some awkward moments-especially in the lyrics- but beyond that, I found this very enjoyable.
