Yeah, so this is pretty fucking awesome. I listened to the debut first, which is average at best, and was about to give up on them, but this right here changed my mind. Awesome melody.

Showcasing the musically angelic (although physically gruff) Dallas Green at the top of his game, Watch Out! is Alexisonfire's most musically diverse album ever, home to some of their slowest, softest songs (the George Pettit-less Side Walk When She Walks), some of their hardest (the anti-cocaine ode White Devil), some of their most fun (the infectious "Hey, It's Your Funeral Mama"), and some of their most serious (the absolutely stunning Sharks And Danger).

This album is quite inspiring. Hightlights include Dallas Green's beautiful vocals, which without them this would be rated much lower. Unique but not groundbreaking drumming keep the music interesting. The only downside is the sloppy screaming at times but it is listenable. A step in the right direction from their self-titled.

Do you remember (the 21st night of September) the time you joined Sput? Whether you were a curious young nerd or an experienced boomer, joining this site was a step into another way of approaching music. I didn't know shit when I joined, but I was eager to learn, and the first genre I dived into was post-hardcore, from stone-cold classics (Zen Arcade) to modern albums just waiting for the years to pass to gain their classic status (Worship and Tribute). But the first album that made me love the genre was Watch Out!. It retained the adolescent music I needed at the time (I was mainly listening to punk and metalcore, eh) while staying true to the genre, and it even added pop sensibilities. Honestly, it's not the best album in the whole genre, nor the most groundbreaking one. But everything it tried to do was met with success: the vocal power trio each brought a different vibe and energy to their performance, from George's raw violence, Wade's punky energy, and the catchy and poppy Dallas. The production is as tight as a stripper's string, the choruses were so anthemic they allowed the band to kinda breakout out of the indie, and they displayed the energy a young bloke into heavy music needs. I can't further explain why I love this album, and maybe that's for the best. I encountered it at the perfect time of my life (summer before entering uni), I listened to it relentlessly then, and since then, I never grew tired of it. If that's not the definition of a classic, I don't know what is. Maybe music isn't dead, maybe we all just forgot what it fucking sounded like.

Alexisonfire's 2004 sophomore record "Watch Out!" stands as one of the best melodic-hardcore records I've ever listened to. Literally every instrument and voice on here impresses and inspires, fitting together with purpose and without any faux-wankery. It sounds ferocious without coming across as misguided and scatterbrained, and is undeniably catchy without the cringe-worthy, whiny vocals of some of its other post-hardcore contemporaries.

This album is very good, great vocals(both Dallas and George), good instrumentation with a mellodic sound yet sometimes heavy aswell. With the exeption of a few fillers this album is a recomendation for post hardcore fans. Try to check out no Tranistory, That Girl Possessed and White Devil all are highlights for me on the album.

So, It's been two years since the release of this album. Since then, Alexisonfire have tourned endlessly, switched drummers and released their third, critically unrested album "Crisis". Looking back at this now, in retrospective, it is a fine album because the songs on it, generally are great. But it's simply not consistent enough to make it really special. If I wanted an AOF album for pop songs to sing my heart out to, this most certainly would be it, but the songs I don't enjoy I'm afraid let this down slightly.

The guys in Alexisonfire met success after their debut and were told by their label that on the next album they should go with a well known mainstream producer. Instead they went with some smaller dude and recorded what would become their magnum opus in a home studio. Atmospheric sounds, a little less screaming, more of Green`s beautiful vocals and experimenting with influences outside of just the hardcore scene and it all paid off. Maybe not as immediate as "Crisis" which had memorable songs like "Boiled Frogs" and "This Could Be Anywhere", but the lyrics and mood on this outshines that easily and this will forever be my favorite Alexisonfire

This has the melodic, riffy, rhythmic and vocal ideas to be a 5.0, but there are too many elements to waste that potential. The direction they chose is just not one I resonate with. But their sound can get very proggy at times, one example being 7's intro, and they mostly succeed at mixing that with more anthemic, corey songwriting. 6 has a dope intro with the clean vox+ bass, giving me Tool vibes somehow. My issue with this is the harsh vocals which are gimmicky and really not my cuppa, and to a lesser extent the ""anthemic"" group sung parts. This is like music for my adolescent self but well done, except those harsh parts. 1,2,4,6,7,9,10,11 all have great intros and/or clean parts, but are often ruined in the harsh sections - I disliked 9 overall for example despite the great intro. 2 and 4 have annoying bits in minimal amounts and are thus jams. 3,5,8 are the only truly weaker tracks from start to finish. The closer 11 is one of the best tracks too with a super fun groove to it and a lovely clean intro, and convinced me this deserves a solid 4.0

This album is CLASSIC. Grew up 20 minutes away from these guys and saw their rise to post-hardcore Gods. Crisis is a fantastic album but Watch Out was the album that defined the rest of the Alexisonfire sound. rThe perfect mix of amateur hardcore screams and the start of Dallas Green's reign as a vocal wizard.

Liam Cormier of the Cancer Bats once said this, "Everyone will always remember Alexisonfire and Billy Talent as the two bands that brought heavy music to the forefront and broke that scene wide open in Canada." I would sum up this album like this: often duplicated, never replicated. There's really nothing that compares to this album in the post-hardcore landscape. It's loud, wild, and the most exciting thrill you'll experience outside of fucking.

One of the finest post-hardcore albums of all time. The passion put into it makes it worth a five, but it's those little moments, like the beginning of "Sharks and Danger" or the almost ambient parts in "Happiness by the Kilowatt". It has this subtle energy, despite the screaming and raging guitars (which are incidentally excellent). It just feels...alive.

This is what Post Hardcore is supposed to sound like, as Alexisonfire's magnus opus they
achieved a perfect balance between an atmospheric and engaging original sound (ala their
debut) as well as more catchy riffs and more accessible music that later came with crisis.
Alexisonfire carries so many subtle musical nuances too keep you engaged, there really is
nobody like this band, and this record shows it so well. This album changes from emotional
and powerful (accidents) funny and rythmic (hey its your funeral mama) captivating and
astounding (It was fear of myself that made me odd) and deeply saddening (happiness by the
kilowatt) and of course just partied up and wild (get fighted). Despite that this album is
sporting such different sounds within it, its unified by the unique atmosphere they created
within watch out. A truly astounding listen, easily within my top fave albums of all time.

This is still pretty entertaining, though it definitely lacks a lot of the energy that made their self-titled such a worthwhile listen. This is a Dallas heavy album, perhaps cashing in on his voice, or perhaps the music simply evovled in that direction. Regardless of the arguments for the scream to clean ratios on this disc, the three vocalists are able to mesh into each others respective realms to create a pretty nice sense of harmony on a lot of these tracks.
