I gave this a 3.5 because I used to jam this when I was a kid.

This is supposed to be hair metal at its best, yeah? I find the pace too sluggish, the production too poorly-done, and the songs too bland and monotonous. There's a few good hooks here, if you're willing to slog through the dreck.

Def Leppard's first two records sound pretty lame and dated now, but back in the day, it was badass. Def Leppard were apart of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal for a reason. But then they released this over-polished, pop metal album, and I haven't bought a Def Leppard record since.

While showing more than a few snippets of potential on 'High N Dry', it was on the influential 'Pyromania' where Def Leppard and producer "Mutt" Lange reset the boundaries of how accessible metal can be. Equally filled with tight musicianship, infectious melodies and anthemic choruses, the use of layers of harmonized backing vocals is especially impressive on this LP which contains barely a filler track. Thoroughly recommended to pretty much anyone... No matter what their taste in music is. Recommended Tracks: Photograph, Rock Of Ages, Foolin', Too Late For Love & Rock Rock (Till You Drop).

This album was light years ahead of anything metal/rock remotely resembling it in terms of the degree of production, riffs and yes, those harmonies. It inspired the return of big anthems and stadium style rock that had disappeared from the States in the few years previously.
Every track on this album is a killer. However, if the some of the lyrics were a little better in quality and depth, Pyromania would have received a 5 from me.

Pyromania is an amazing and energetic hair metal album, but unfortunately slightly misses the mark to rock the place to the ground. It has got classics like Photograph and Rock of Ages but also there are couple of boring songs that just don't do anything.
