the vocal trade offs seriously are like the best thing ever. i don't think i'll ever listen to these two bands separately and think of them the same way again. jordan and jeremy should just start their own band where all they do is scream at each other and release calssic after classic after classic after classic after classic after classic................

Two of hardcore's most promising bands create a true masterpiece. The raw, passionate dual vocals perfectly compliment each other.

This, much like United Nations' offering this year, is one of those short EPs that feels
longer and fuller than it is. A lot of the reason for this is that La Dispute and Touche
Amore know how to write songs that tell stories in short spaces. The best example I can give
is La Dispute's last track "Why It Scares Me." Despite only being three and a half minutes
(and the longest track by far on the EP) it gives the same feeling as "The Last Lost
Continent" did on Somewhere at the Bottom of the River...
So rather than complain about how there aren't enough songs, I'm going to rejoice that these
two bands have decided to collaborate instead of just throwing two of their random songs
onto an EP and calling it a split.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: what Touche Amore does best is condensing a whirlwind of emotions into a minute or two, making riveting songs in short blasts. What is less apparent is La Dispute's ability to condense their emotional turmoils, but that ability is shown in droves here. With an evocative split EP lasting eight minutes, these two bands that drove themselves to the forefront of the post-hardcore scene in the late 2000's give two of their best efforts each, complete with some truly awesome vocal trade-offs. Oh yeah, and the lyrics are fantastic.
