Why is there so much hate on this band? This album isn't that awful...I mean, as for their image...it's a bit out of the ordinary, but I guess they're just doing what they do. The musicians in the band are very talented, despite it being 'recycled' stuff (isn't that what a lot of music is these days anyhow?). The songs are catchy, "Andy Six" has a decent voice, and the musicianship is strong. I just think the production behind it doesn't sound as good. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I really don't need to say much... this band is absolutely horrid. In their video for "knives and pens" At one point you can see the drummer hitting completely different cymbals than the drums that are playing in the music.
But any way, this is probably one of the worst bands to come out since the horrific stabbing ear pain called Brokencyde.
This is what needs to stop in music... ***ty trendy bull*** that has not heart or soul.
I have heard about all I could hear with the first song and then just stopped listening to it.
Put it this way, If money was a big dick... these guys would be flaming faggots. (No disrespect to any homosexuals reading this review.)
To end my review... if you want to have your ears horribly raped by a knife, check this band out... if you want to continue listening to good music, please don't bother giving this band a chance in hell.
(By the way... if you couldn't tell, the recommendations are a complete joke... This band sounds like a carbon copy of everyone of the bands listed.)

To be honest, this isn't the worst thing that's ever emerged from Hot Topic. In fact the band doesn't have anything really all that cringe worthy, the only problem I find it's pretty damn generic and dull most of the time. The lyrics try to hard to reach out to all the teenage girls. Otherwise this is your standard, by the book mainstream metalcore band.

Despite copious amounts of over-production, vocals in one octave and monotonous harsh vocals. Black Veil Brides show that they have something to help them stand out, brandishing a large amount of guitar solo work instead of a hefty supply of breakdowns like similar bands in the genre, which is a welcome change. Catchy melodies are present in multiple songs and the vocals, regardless of the lack of range fit the songs well. Along with this, the drums throw in some uncommon fills here and there and changes up pacing as well.

This will be a controversial score, for sure, but this record has such a place in my life, one that has been enduring ever since its release. It got me through some really rough times, and objectively the individual instruments are actually pretty sweet. The band are rather generic, and Andy's vocals are awful, but it brings the riffs, and the solos slap so hard.

Generic melodic metalcore that likes to also pretend to be melodic death metal on occasion. Not
as breakdown heavy as the rest of the unwashed "modern" melodic metalcore masses, and maybe a
little pop punky, but still about as by-the-book, play-it-safe as you can get for mainstream
metalcore.
Biersack's clean vocals are somehow less aggravating here thanks to the really mediocre mixing
which gives everything a slightly muffled feel, but that same mixing also cuts the power from most
of the instrumentation and makes the melodies much less cutting. Not as bad I guess as everyone
says, but still only noteworthy for not being quite as garbage as the rest of their ilk.
This just reminds me of a crappier Heaven Shall Burn/early In this Moment. I was thinking of
giving it a 2.5 because of its aesthetic appeal and because I'm a sucker for melodic death metal
riffs, but I cannot imagine listening to this entire thing--even though it's only 42 minutes long.

Honestly these boys have what it takes to generate a surprisingly good and concise album. Much of their material, however, is incredibly cheesy in the atrocious sense; this isn't helped by the bandmates' decision to adopt Motley Crue fashion statements, though I digress. We Stitch These Wounds is an instantly forgettable release meant for all the Hot Topic teenyboppers (Snide, no offense), and brings zero amount of creativity. The unremarkability is brought down further by Andy's vocals, who suffers an extreme case of a singing-screaming identity crisis. Black Veil Brides' debut record shows merit regarding the songs' production quality, but nothing else.

The epitome of musical expression, Black Veil Brides debut album is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Unlike other bands that have been trying to establish themselves in the scene, Black Veil Brides was able to head the pack by fusing the twin guitar mastery of Iron Maiden with the versatile range of their vocalist Andy Sixx. Having the ability to use both powerful cleans and unrelenting screams, Andy Sixx makes the band stand out as a force to be reckoned with.

Perfect albums are very rarely released, and when they are, there are always the skeptics that say the album sucks or that it is not as good as X album. Take many Opeth albums for instance, people always say its not as good as another album in their discography, no matter how fucking awesome it is. Black veil Brides are a band that received far more hate than is customary for releasing a perfect album that transcends all existing music so much that people just didn't get it and completely slept on it. They said that Andy's voice is monotonous, which isn't true, he has a beautiful voice as is evidenced by the song Morticians Daughter, an acoustic song that tugs on the heart strings with every beautiful vocal line. The guitar work is insane, as songs like Perfect Weapon show with their awesome and intricate riffs, and the solos to this album are also good, with the title track and Children Surrender standing out the most. This is one of the most fantastic, amazing, soul-destroying albums out there that will enlighten even the most seasoned veteran of the music industry with its riffs of truth, beautiful lyrics and one of the most gorgeous frontmen ever

A really great debut that starts off strong and continues this way until around two thirds into the album where it grows stale and starts being completely repetitive. It is a shame because if it had kept up the pace and continued pumping out songs as good as children Surrender and the title track then perhaps it could be 4 or 4.5 material. As it is, this is a great release with some truly talented guitar work (except an obvious avenged sevenfold ripoff riff), good drumming (although this was the one thing the follow-up improved on), decent bass (although it isnt audible on the album) and a very strong vocal performance from Andy Biersack. His clean voice is powerful and carries a lot of confidence and the screaming is even better. The lyrics are another down side to this however as they are the usual whiny emo rubbish produced by many a metal band these days

Terrible album. The riffs sound like watered down versions of 90's era In Flames.The vocals are almost as bad as Exodus' "Bonded By Blood", while the screams sound dry and powerless. Worst of all, the lyrics are cringe worthy and also very unimaginative. This is not Metal you will remember and be proud of listening to, it's not even bland Deathcore, it's worse than that. Metalcore can often help younger kids get into stuff like Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, or Death. This won't do that at all. This is simply for 13 year old Hot Topic Fangirls/Fanboys, and unlike a band like Death or Metallica, they probably will out grow it and never look at it again.

The members of Black Veil Brides know how to play their instruments, at times the guitarists really have a tendency to shred around, sometimes a little too much but it's the thought that matters. It only took a few songs in though to notice the lack of variety between their songs, and the fact that this group seems to try way too hard to be different, while capturing a more modern genre sound. Setting themselves up as some sort of modern day 80's hair metal group, it just doesn't work. At all. Image means a lot, and this band is as bad as they look, without a single doubt.
