There are some good tracks, my favorites being Hot Line and Zero the Hero. The rest is either too poorly produced to listen to for long periods of time or has some of the dumbest lyrics of Sabbath's entire discography.

Excellent songwriting and questionable lyricism. I'm just not sure Gillan was the right fit for Black Sabbath, but either way they put together a great album here.

All the hate aside, I believe this is an excellent album. Huge load of the good ol' Iommy riffage paired with a very interesting and sinister aura. It took me a few minutes to get used to Ian Gillan's vocals, but in the end I think it was a great match. Really nasty album.

Production on this brings down the rating of at least 1 vote. Otherwise it could have been a really strong album. To me the Unmixed Demo bootleg is an easy 4 indeed.

Awful album art should be the giveaway that the album is not gonna be amazing. But don't judge a book by it's cover... well maybe you should with this. The production is very muddy and dull. Under that the songs themselves aren't that amazing. Either over long and drawn out tracks that outstay their welcome (Zero the Hero) or lyrics that really don't fit with Sabbath (Digital Bitch). After the Ozzy and Dio era, this starts Sabbath's revolving door of members. Ian Gillan this time holds the mic and for me doesn't fit. Tracks to check out: Trashed, Disturbing the Priest.

Losing Ozzy AND Dio as frontmen was a huge blow for the band, and that unfortunate turn of events sounds evident here. Despite recruiting the accomplished Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillen, his presence isn't enough to cover up the uninspired songwriting and sloppy execution. "Trashed" is appropriately trashy in sound which isn't a good thing, "Disturbing The Priest" tries to sound atmospheric but is ruined by its chaotic vocals, "Zero The Hero" has a slight Ozzy-era vibe to it but is mostly unimpressive, and the rest of the material either recycles old ideas or cashes in on the trends of the time. It's not an unbearable disaster, however, for Tony Iommi's guitar work, if unexciting, and Ian Gillen both try to make the best of the lack of inspiration found here, and you'll find some decent riffs, solos, and shrieks in spades.

Man, the hate for this album genuinely bums me out. The lyrics are completely forgetable, but holy cow there's some really great atmospheric stuff here, the songs are catchy, the riffs are fantastic, everything about this is screams awesome old school metal. rBlack Sabbath's most underrated album, and my personal favorite of theirs. (Even though i recognize that this is no where near their best album) it has tons of charm and i think it deserves praise.

BORN AGAIN remains one of the more contentious anomalies in the Black Sabbath catalog. It's an album that some fans have
hailed as an underappreciated classic. Others seem to feel that the Demon baby emblazoned on the front cover should have
been smothered in the crib.
Much of the disparity among critics comes down to misaligned expectations. BORN AGAIN was seen by many fans of both Purple
and Sabbath as an enjoyable novelty that shouldn't simply be judged against Sabbath's prior releases. Ultimately such
comparisons were inevitable and BORN AGAIN hasn't fared so well living in the long shadow of the Black Sabbath name. This
decision to retain this lofty moniker wound up adding some tarnish as Iommi made music with other collaborators that didn't
live up to the band's original standards. BORN AGAIN could be considered the first of these albums.

It was an okay album. Loved it at first, but as I listened to it a little more, the more flaws I discovered. This album just doesn't have the original Sabbath sound to it. Coming after the Late Ronnie James Dio, expectations were very high, they sadly were not met. Good songs include Born Again, Trashed, Zero the Hero and Keep it Warm. Worst songs were The Dark and Stonehenge.

So, let's be honest: Why do I think "Born Again" is a good record?rBecause of the opener track "Trashed", the screams on "Disturbing The Priest", The Dark (interlude), the solo in "Zero The Hero", The melodies in "Born Again", Hot line (the rocker) and Keep it Warm (the closing ballad with a badass solo).rThe lyrics are nothing noteworthy, but it works. The production could be very much better. I recommend to check also "Born Again Unmixed Demos & The Fallen". It's the demo record of Born Again with a bit better production.
