Thy Art Is Murder is a very frustrating band for me. The musicianship is outstanding - the vocals are pretty good, the riffs and blast beats are fantastic - but there's barely any flow to it at all. The breakdowns are a joke, and they take away any groove the songs initially had. I mean breakdowns can be great in moderation and with consideration for how they relate to the rest of the song, but when they're just slapped together like this it sounds obnoxious. It's better than the EP, and in fact better than a lot of deathcore bands, but they're still trying too god damn hard.

Serving as a mostly fine debut album from this deathcore entourage, The Adversary's hidden amount of potential to be a grand release is marred by the restricted feelings coming from the sound, and most tracks simply exist to blend in with one another.

Out of the aussie deathcore scene this is one of the best. The last album was total suicide silence worship (done well, but still), while this is more unique. taking the best of tech death and adding in great breakdowns makes this stand out from the rest of the pack. vocals are astounding too./

Its decent for deathcore but nothing special, the new vocalist is a tight death metal singer but doesnt compare to the unique voice radiating from Infinite Death. Could have been better and definately NOT a memorable album.
