Really surprising seeing as it's the same guy who made a masterpiece in "Illinois."
Honestly, VERY hard to rate. I mean, looking at it objectively, I wouldn't call it a
complete chore to listen to... but neither would I call it anything near "good." I think
resting at a solid 2.5 would be a gift Sufjan seeing as I'd never even listen to this in the
first place if it were by anyone else... 2.5/5

To rate this album above a 2 denies reasonable judgment, while above a 2.5 ensures an utter void where a listener's sanity once existed. This album sounds nothing like it should, and as a matter of fact, sounds like nothing at all. It's nonsense electronic noises that have no cohesiveness to speak of this side of the Pacific.

Definitely not his best probably due to the fact that he went out on a limb with Enjoy Your Rabbit. Listen to Year of the Dog, pretty much the best song on the album

Sufjan's only experimental electronic album & the worst album in his catalogue. I was unaware that this was an electronic album so you can imagine the shock I got when I bought this and put it on expecting to hear his folk/indie stylings but instead got this electronic twanger. This takes a hell of a lot of effort to get into, which isn't usually a problem, but in this case there is no reward for all of your hard work. Sufjan should have kept this album under lock and key.
