Papa Roach, the emo-posers they are now, are much better then what they used to be. Which of course was metal-posers. The album is very good if you are twelve years of age and the year is 2000, but if you do not fit this deception, you should avoid this album at all costs. The album is filled with cheesy lyrics and played out guitar riffs, what else is there to make you want to run the other way at first listen.

When Papa Roach was actually good, 'Infest' is an angry and energetic Nu-metal album that does exactly what is expected from it, entertain.

Strong 3 - Papa Roach - 1st Chapter - ,,Infest'' - Off course, Now I could talk about: why is this album in my subjective opinion better than most of it's contemporaries...and that's exactly what I am gonna do
Looking at nu metal in 2017 is fairly unique and interesting experience, not only because it has been 15-25 years since the genre had it's time to shine...but mainly because after all these years we can see how well most of the ''big'' nu metal records aged...and trust me most of them not so well *cough* Korn *Cough*// but surprisingly enough ,,Infest'' sounds as energetic and fun as it used to sound 20 years ago, I might not enjoy it as much as I used to 7-8 years ago, but I can still enjoy how easily it flows, and how Catchy huge amount of this thing is: While riffs are mostly really simple and kinda unimaginative, they are memorable and in ,,Broken Home'' ,, Between..'' and ,,Revenge'' I would even say really good for mainstream Nu-metal. And even Shaddix sounds freakin' great on this record while he is melodramatic angsty douchey kid, his delivery is certainly more captivating than Dursts ''drunk frat boy'' delivery and Davis's ''Naked little kid Crying in the bathroom'' delivery.

It has some songs that are f*cking awesome and super cacthy, meaning specifically "Last Resort" and "Between Angels and Insects". The rest of the album is good and good enough to not make the experience of listening to this album a bad one, but I listen to it mainly because of those songs I mentioned.

Eh, better than any Limp Bizkit album ever made. Will admit this is still pretty drooling compared to the hard rock during the decade of this album's inception. Definitely for my former teenage years, but again, my teenage Self was an idiot. And still "relatively" so...

Still a solid slab of nu metal, still dig Snakes, Thrown Away, and Dead Cell. Last Resort gives me PTSD about middle school so I avoid that song like the plague.

Infest is obviously the major label debut offering put out by Papa Roach. There are many who will defend this record, even going so far as to call it 'the band's magnum opus'; maybe it could only be me, but there's nothing special nor groundbreaking about this release. Everyone seems to praise it for nostalgia purposes, rather than for the quality - in which Papa Roach were essentially another nu metal outfit back then. Sure, I'll admit the musicianship is hardly bad and Jacoby Shaddix's vocal performance accompanies the harsh instrumentals well enough, but that's as far as they could go throughout Infest... Don't hear this expecting something to be genuine or poetic.
