I don't understand why this album gets so much hate? It's NOT THAT BAD. Sure it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but there's only so many "new things" you can bring into a genre. What do you want them to do? Play fucking polka? The album offers some diamonds in the rough, such as "Relentless Chaos" and "Masses of a Dying Breed", which show the last glimpse of somewhat decent vocals Ryan Neff had left before before At Heart. The furious pace of the title track made it a fun listen as well. You'll find nothing new here, but it's the last decent album this band has and probably WILL ever make.

Miss May I are as infuriating as ever in sophomore "Monument". The guitarists have seemingly advanced in their rabilities to play but they are still incapable of filling songs with anything but crap breakdowns, annoying clean rsections and cookie cutter melo death riffs. 1 Bumps \| Bump

Miss May I had potential, but failed to deliver with this album. All the tracks sound almost exactly like the one before it. Even the vocals have little or no variation. The band continued to regurgitate the same cords, vocals and drum lines ten times over and called it an album.

The only songs with a little variation are Relentless Chaos and In Recognition. Relentless Chaos has a little more clean vocal work and the unclean vocals aren't COMPLETELY dead. Also the breakdowns aren't the same as the other eight, give or take. In Recognition was a song performed only by the clean vocalist. His voice is different from the rest, but the only time he shows it is in this song.

They often use the same breakdowns over and over. Breakdowns, which are supposed to be used sparingly, are way to abundant here. There are around two in a song and, if i said once i said it a million times, they all sound the same. If Miss May I must have a breakdown in every track, lets see if we can only get one.

I suppose I'm being a little harsh since they could have done a lot worse, but this must be said. Maybe in their next album they won't re-use the same song with different lyrics.

Miss May I seems to have no idea what it takes to create an album, and to keep the attention of a listener. When all of your songs sound exactly the same, feature cookie cutter breakdowns and follow a format held together by any other band out there, you're doing something wrong. This was all noticed in their debut, but to downgrade more into what made something bad, you've hit a point of no return. Variation, key word here.

Instead of taking the potential they had on Apologies, Miss May I chooses to completely rip AILD with generic song structures, unmemorable choruses, and mindless riffing that's recycled about 5 times over. However, Levi's screams are much more solid and improved on this outing. It's a shame, I had hopes for this band. Bump
