"New Brutalism" aren't "brutal" as much as they are unflinching--the Shellac-influenced noise rock here simply pummels (though never too hard, or hard enough) for 9 tracks, never letting up for a soft moment, as the lead singer gruffly yells over thick, un-catchy riffs. Some songs have pleasures, especially the chilling "065", but, for the most part, this is a tiring slog.
