Ok, maybe I'm overrating this just a tad, but god damn this album makes me want to chug beers and rawk the fuck out.

Woah the throwback. This is aight hard rock carried by cool riffs and, most importantly, by a predictably awesome vocal performance from Keith Buckley. Ain't nothing revolutionary, but fun nonetheless.

I was underwhelmed by this album. Considering the individual talent that makes up this super group, I fully expected this album to be one long showcase of driving riffs and Keith Buckley lyrical genius. Instead, I found a fun, albeit unthinkingly catchy rock album destined to be another over-hyped, forgotten super group attempt.

Ironiclast has an amazing energy, and feels pretty fresh. As for the music itself, it's nothing superb, but it's great enough for having fun listening to this.

When I heard about this group at first I was sceptical about the fact it consisted of members of Fallout Boy, Every Time I Die and Anthrax. I couldn’t see how such a project could possibly work, especially seeing them so musically diverse. But the album cover had me pretty curious (yes, I’m into uncanny designs like that) and once I gave this album a chance I have to say that I wasn’t this pleasantly surprised in a long time.
When this album delivers, it truly delivers and with some of the most catchy verses and hooks I’ve heard from any band. Although there seems to be a generic aspect lying in each song somewhere (can’t really put my finger on it) the entire sound feels fast, heavy yet poppy at the same time and the chemistry couldn’t work any better. All the instrumentals and vocals feel like they’re connecting in the right place at the right time so I had no trouble giving this multiple listens in one sitting. The only faults I can find with this record are the title track ‘Ironclast’ and ‘The Blues Having Blues’. The song writing, especially the vocals, feel needlessly weak so they kind of bring the fast-paced train journey to a halt where it shouldn’t. It’s a shame the latter is the final track on the album.
What we have here is one of the most surprising albums you’re likely to hear before 2010 ends. It’s well structured, melodic and highly memorable. And being released at the end of this year it will certainly usher throughout 2011 for me.
