Justin is taking advantage of his inability to perform live anymore by making stuff that couldn't be performed live in the first place. A welcome return to Streetcleaner-style vocal distortion and some seriously ugly textures. The album title and music are a perfect match for one another.

This is beyond words. From their post-reformation output, it is closest to Post-Self, but it also goes back to the crushing sound of their early EPs and Streetcleaner. So I'm really surprised that the new songs come from the same sessions as those on Purge, because they are quite different, except maybe for the closer "you are the judge...".rWhile Purge has a lot of bouncing around with danceable beats and grooves, it is better just to sit in a dark room while listening to Decay and think about, well, you know, decay.

Great pneumatic slabs, the rhythms of industry ceaselessly marching upon us all.

leans very heavily into the more experimental/noise side of Justin's palette, which isnt necessarily my fav side of Godflesh in isolation. therefore i thought a lot of this was a bit ho-hum, until the second half of the closer, then i was locked tf in. ryour mileage may vary, def one to sit in the darkness with good headphones on instead of one that'll get your head bobbin

This is the real deal. Genuinely some of their strongest material in decades. It?s crushing but surprisingly psychedelic.

crushing. A lot of Justin's experience in other projects comes through (JK Flesh, especially) to give this a very nuanced sound that remains on brand for the post-reunion material. Opener, Fodder and Closer are particularly intense experiences.
