Gone is the maximalist approach found on the previous album; here is a ferocious and focused exercise in orthodox, pared down black metal. It's filled with subtle emotion and restrained melody, a slow-burning and brooding album for sure. It's right on the border of 4 and 4.5 for me. We'll see how subsequent listens treat it. Was hoping for a bit more signature Hulder warble singing though.

Thy binding Oath is really good, but just don't like the vox that much on most of the tracks. Their cleans song Zonnesteen off their last single is incredible. Wish they utilized that a little more. But the harsh vox could still improve even though they're arguably an improvement.
