Some very, very heavy riffs throughout, impressive vocal performances from the two new singers, but despite the new band lineup, not much newness from The Ocean. A lot of the songs tend to meander structurally and seemingly lead nowhere, and similar to their last few albums, but now more prominent than ever, the lyrics are farcical. There is no subtlety or nuance, simply blank metaphor and directly stating what one is doing: "I am in floating in space/The cosmos is an ocean", etc. etc. Leave it to the Germans to write the most straight-forwardly unpoetic song lyrics possible I suppose...

Even with substantial member changes, the band still remains quintessentially The Ocean while moving forward into new territory. What is lost in a core member, and prior vocalist leaving is gained with dual vocalists. This album, also furthers the electronic elements, with the last two songs being synth driven and the most disapointing tracks.

Best ocean since pelagial and adding the weird chick singer pays dividends here in a big way. Also I wouldn’t know the
dude singer is different if it wasn’t explicitly stated in the press release. I see that as a good thing.

Just found it all a bit dull to be honest. The awkward phrasing and stilted vocal delivery that
Stapp seems to insist upon with all of his vocalists just gets tiresome. But I've found that
with all they've released since Heliocentric. Precambrian was just so damn good, I guess it would
be hard to top it.

Solaris marks the begining of a new era for The Ocean. Strap in because this things a behemoth. Im actually kind of in awe about how great this is considering how many people left the band after Holocene.

It's only been out for a few hours but WOW. This might be my favorite release since Pelagial.

This was a tough listen. It’s so unbelievably sterile production wise, especially the male vocals, which really are
incredibly saccharine at times. Riff wise, there is very little there and it doesn’t have the wall of sound element
that the best post metal brings, so you’re left with some pretty dull modern ‘progressive metal’ that isn’t actually
remotely progressive.

Fantastic album, the new vocalists work together
splendidly and the atmosphere throughout is
immaculate. Love the dynamics overall. I even dig
the last two tracks that might seem like filler
to many.

Okay. It is fine, but what the actual filler fuck is the last track? It is just Milk Of My Dreams all over again...

I was unsure of this album at first but the last 4 tracks really seal the deal for me. The rest is great as well but as a massive attack and shpongle fan (maybe even a little ulver?) This stuff clicks with me.
