It's 2016 and I'm still certain that you people still sing along to the singles off this album, many years after 2004; there's no need to be ashamed, because Kelly Clarkson's second full-length album boasts really good compositions. Breakaway, while not exactly a flawless record from start to finish, is a neat example of a pop rock release that maintains a balance between natural emotion and blatant cheese. Although the second half of the album is where this recording begins to lose steam, Clarkson's sophomore album does contain a powerful first wave of songs which almost make up for it. Angel recommends: "Since U Been Gone," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "Because of You," "Gone," and "Addicted". Now show us your Big Bob.

One of the most emotionally packed pop albums of its time, if not of all time. I simply can't listen to "Breakaway" or "Because of You" without finding myself breaking down in tears.

Doubtlessly her strongest work, Breakaway shows a more mature side of Kelly. Her voice is
strong yet beautiful and manages to stay just on the right balance of cheesy and emotion.

Armed with a powerful voice that will turn heads and showing a strong transition between multiple types of songs by juxtaposing soft rock instrumentation with poppy choruses, Kelly Clarkson has created a record that shows she has something to offer, but still needs to mature in her sound to create a memorable record. The lyricism needs the most improvement, but the utterly enchanting vocals usually draw away from the less than impressive writing.
