| 4.0 excellent | c0nf1n3d | August 31st 26 | "Spirit Breaker", as a pure concentration, might be the best work from Still Remains. There's no filler here - no instrumentals, just pure energy and ideas seeping out of every song. Take the title track for example using synthetized kicks to build to the first verse, to the again synthesized choir backing a very memorable breakdown. Lead single 'Erase You' was...well...a good choice for the lead single due to it being the catchiest song by far even though it uses the atypical 'Drop-C tuning chord chorus' that other songs use as well (in fact, 'The Worst is Yet to Come' from their debut album uses the same chord progression, just faster). Perhaps the only bummer is the lack of a 'radio song', aka the likes of material heard on "The Serpent" (alternative-rock song). Some fans of the group weren't crazy about that, but for pure variety's sake, it would've been nice to hear something along those lines because Still Remains are quite good at writing those types of songs as well. They're still a band as a whole that never miss, and "Spirit Breaker" proves that point tenfold.
