might go down. let down by this one, was really hoping the follow up would see them grow on what they did before, but i would describe this record as an exploration of early dimmu borgir and emperor. they went hammier on the symphonics and i'm really not convinced by the usage in a lot of places. Tales of Othertime also felt like it had a forward momentum and this one feels a bit all over the place

Light on the epic compositions and badass thrash that made Tales Of Othertime so great, in favour of more standard 90s symphoblack

I was a little hesitant when hearing that the dungeon synth elements wouldn't be present, with a more symphonic approach being taken. A shift from wizardry to gothic vampires. But damn, does it work well.
